The Varsity Boys Track and Field Team, led by Sophomore Elijah Eddington, won their second stright title. Elijah won the 110 Meter High hurdles, 300 Intermediate Hurdles and the Pole Vault and was named the Sirrea Delta League MVP for Track. Elihja was helped by his teammate Ruben Mehler who won the Discus with a personal best throw of 130'5". Ruben was named the SDL MVP for Field as he was undefeated in both the Shot Put and Discus for the entire season.

Other outstanding All-League performances were turned in by William Echeveria,--Shot Put, Christian Mejia--Long Jump, and Sam Johnson in the Triple Jump.

Congratulations to Freshman Brook Hoppe, Sophomore Elijah Eddington, and Junior Ruben Mehler as they were each named MVPs for their performances during the Sierra Delta League Track and Field season as voted on by the track coaches from each of the league schools. Brook won the SDL Field MVP award for being undeafeated in the Pole Vault and Triple Jump throughout the season. Elijah was voted the SDL Track MVP for having an undeated season in both the 110HH and 300IH as well as being undeafeated in the Pole Vault. Ruben was selected the SDL Field MVP for his outstanding performances in the Discus and Shot Put throughout the season.

Golden Sierra enjoys a proud tradition of athletics that includes over 70 League Titles, 7 Sac-Joaquin Section Championships, and numerous individuals who have earned all-GEL, all-SJS, and all-CIF honors.  Varsity sports offerings include football, cross country, boys and girls volleyball, boys and girls soccer, boys and girls basketball, wrestling, golf, tennis, swimming, softball, baseball, track, skiing, and rodeo. Many of these programs also offer JV and Freshman teams. 

Golden Sierra is a member of the Sierra Delta League. Other members include: Bradshaw Christian , Vacaville Christian , Rio VistaEncina, Highlands, and San Juan high schools.

GRIZZLY CROSS COUNTRY TEAM PLACE 19TH IN STATE FINALS

The Grizzly Cross Country Team, led by Team Captain Ryan Sewell, placed 19th in the CIF State Cross Country Finals held at Woodward Park in Fresno on November 30th.  Ryan placed 54th overall with a time of 17:17 for the 5K race which was a personal best time.  Ryan was follwed by teammates David Blanton 105th in 18:07, Hunter Hughes 138th in 18:35, Chris Lopez 173rd in 19:30, Nick Blanton 176th in 19:34, Allan Nicholson 177th in 19:40, and Nick Anaya in 197th in 22:32.  The team's goals were to beat Foresthill High School and be in the Top 20 in the State Finals.  Everyone had a great time and looked forward to the possibility of returning to the State Met next year where they hope to improve upon their placement in this year's Finals.
